Andrew Fletcher Omstead, 22, of Bethel, PA, an Electro-Optical Maintenance Technician with the Second Maintenance Battalion, stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC, passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2026. Born in Panama City, FL, he is the son of David A. Omstead, Lt Col, USAF (Retired) and Barbara M. (Piper) Omstead, Lt Col, USAF (Retired).
Andrew attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Georgia, Geilenkirchen Elementary School in Germany, AFNORTH International School in the Netherlands, Lebanon Catholic School, and New Covenant Christian School, from which he graduated in 2022. While in high school, he studied Law Enforcement at the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center. Immediately after graduation, Andrew enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was Lance Corporal at the time of his passing. He was a junior firefighter for 4 years with the Frystown Volunteer Fire Company (Station 53), an Eagle Scout from Lebanon Boy Scout Troop 11, a graduate of the PA State Police Camp Cadet Troop L, a 3rd degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, and an altar server for 9 years between two parishes. Andrew was strong in his faith, exceptionally loyal, and blessed with an amazing sense of humor. He had a creative spirit and loved working with his hands. Drew could often be found fishing, working on cars with his friends, or building things. Thoughtful and wise beyond his years, Andrew was a true servant to God and his country. He was recognized for meritorious service by Station 53. His military awards and decorations include the Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
In addition to his parents, Andrew is survived by 3 sisters: Katharine Eva Omstead, Cecilia Rose Omstead, and Maria Elizabeth Omstead; grandmothers, Jean Omstead and Leona Piper; and a host of beloved extended family members, Marine Corps brothers and sisters, fellow firefighters and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Elmer Omstead and Frank Fletcher Piper.
