Known as Dr. Cook from Hershey to Lancaster, Dr. Colleen Lee Cook-Moine MD, 72, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Tarentum, Pennsylvania, Colleen was the daughter of late Edward Cook and of June Ramsberger Cook. She grew up in Lewiston near Niagara Falls, NY. Throughout her youth, she was an avid equestrian rider and won many Hunter Jumper trophies in New York State and Canada. She graduated from Lewiston Porter Senior High School, Lewiston NY in 1972 with High Honors.

A visiting admission counselor actively encouraged her to apply to Cornell University. In 1972, she started to attend Cornell University Agriculture Sciences School and graduated in 1976. She then attended the graduate program of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Temple University in Philadelphia. She left the graduate program in 1977 and found employment at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Then she started medical school in 1982.

After graduating from the University of Maryland Medical School in 1986, she accepted a Residency position in Pediatrics at the University of Maryland Medical School, successfully completing her residency in 1989. Then she moved to Colorado where she took up a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Denver Children’s Hospital in 1989, which she successfully completed in 1992. Next, she accepted employment as an attending physician in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Hershey Children’s Hospital in 1992.

The next step of her career was going to be in Lancaster, PA where, for two decades, she was going to touch the lives of so many children and so many parents. In 1997, she joined Eden Park Pediatrics where she became a partner in 2001 and helped countless children until her retirement in 2018.

Colleen was the loving wife of Andre Moine, and for more than a quarter of a century they walked by one another’s side through life. Together they traveled every time they got a chance in the US and in several countries of Europe; mostly in France and Italy. And for a few years, Louis XIV, Colleen's beloved Bichon took long walks with them on the beaches of the Carolinas.

Colleen was passionate about painting, sculpture, and architecture. She took courses in Art History where she excelled. She explored many museums, cathedrals, castles, famous gardens, and celebrated cultural landmarks. From Venice to the Mont Saint-Michel, from the Prado in Madrid to the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, from Saint-Malo to the Pantheon in Rome, the topic of one of her papers; and then back to the exquisite gardens of the Château de Villandry in the Loire Valley or to the Bayeux Tapestry in Normandy! And many other places too numerous to list here. Colleen often evoked the silent and peaceful canoe ride taken under the arches of the Château de Chenonceau; and Florence, Italy where she had promised herself to return, held a special place in her heart.

And there was Paris, of course, which she visited many times and came to know so well and where she walked so many miles. This included climbing the stairs to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower; a ritual at each visit. An afternoon in the gardens of Monet's Giverny was probably for Colleen the last highlight of her explorations; but cancer did not allow her, in the end, to return to restored Notre Dame de Paris.

Surviving in addition to her husband Andre, are her mother June, her sister Melanie Cook, her son Gian Perantoni, her daughter-in-law Rebecca and her grandsons Jovanni and William.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send memorial contributions in Colleen’s memory to Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, 1249 Cocoa Ave., P O Box 852, Hershey, PA, 17033 (checks made payable to Penn State University – memo "to benefit PSCH Child Life" in memory of Colleen Cook-Moine MD), a program that helps young patients and their families cope with the stress of hospital stays, illnesses, and medical procedures through play, education, and emotional support.
