Gerald Wilson Capps (Butch), 77, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, October13, 2025 in the Lebanon VA Medical Center, South Lebanon Twp., PA.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, he was a son of the late Homer and Martha Alice (Carter) Capps.
Gerald’s life was marked by unwavering commitment and integrity. He served his country for one year, 11 months and 21 days with honor and distinction as a Combat Special Forces US Army Ranger Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the Airborne. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was a member of the Black Mason Society.
Surviving are his sister; Savaukia (Capps) Monroe, wife of Bernard Monroe of Lynchburg; and his brothers Will Calvin Capps, husband of Pam Capps of Lynchburg; and his brother Glenmore Carter of Richmond, Virginia. Also surviving are his cousins Germaine Henderson (Van) of Leesburg, Virginia and Monteray Frazier (Rudolph) of Fayetteville, Georgia.
He was predeceased by his sister Alicia Carter and by his brother Thomas Capps.
In this time of mourning, we honor Gerald Wilson Capps, whose journey through life may have concluded, but whose spirit will forever inspire us to live with purpose, compassion, and resilience. May he rest in eternal peace, with his legacy continuing to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
