Jack Mitchell Miller, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Clarence and Florence (Geib) Miller.
A 1965 graduate of Lebanon High School, Jack went on to study at The Pennsylvania State University before proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969, completing a tour during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he joined the Lebanon City Police Department, where he dedicated 25 years to protecting his community and retired with honor as a lieutenant in 1999. During his distinguished career, he was recognized with the 1980 VFW Officer of the Year Award and received the Clifford A. Roland Testimonial Award for outstanding service and professionalism. While serving on the police force, Jack remained active in his community through his involvement with CQM Little League Baseball, where he coached Tony’s Mining Company for over a decade.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting in Potter County and fishing on Blue Marsh and Memorial Lake. Jack also loved woodworking, scouting cars at auctions with his good friend Jim Engle, watching football, working on jigsaw puzzles, and playing games on his computer. His enthusiasm, humor, and kindness were felt by everyone who spent time with him.
He will be remembered for his lifelong commitment to service, integrity, and family.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Anita (Hollister) Miller; his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Courtney Miller; his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Kevin Ebersole; and five cherished grandchildren: Dominick Burress, Rachel Burress, Mackenzie Miller, Chase Miller, and Jackson Burress. He is also survived by his sister Joanne Tice; brother-in-law James Hollister; nephews Paul Tice and Joseph Tice; and many beloved grand-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Snyder Bean Funeral Home & Crematory, 890 Isabel Drive, Lebanon PA 17042. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will begin promptly at 2:00 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, rending full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police, Lebanon Lodge 42.
