Linda Mae Sorensen

Linda M. Sorensen, 83, of Lebanon, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Linda was born in Erie, PA, to Michael and Pauline (Yokoff) Evanoff on October 10, 1942. She grew up on East 5th Street with brothers, Floyd, Michael and sister, Marlene. She graduated from East High and began working immediately to support herself. She married John in 1963 and began raising five kids: Dennis, Leslie, Donna, Danny, and Debbie. The family moved to the country, North East, PA, to live on a farm, raising kids and she worked outside the home to support the family. She cooked wonderful meals, always had activities and supported her children's every endeavor. In 1980, the family moved to Lebanon when John transferred to Murry's Steaks as a plant manager. She loved working at the Hallmark store in the Lebanon Plaza and then on Route 72, while supporting her growing children. In 1987, the family moved to Rome, GA and she later returned to Lebanon where she retired.

Linda loved reading, sports, (well, running the family betting pools!), cooking and baking, Beach 10 at Presque Isle, Wheel of Fortune, entertaining family (and later grandchildren and great-grandchildren) and vacationing with Leslie and Debbie at the Shore. She especially loved spending time with her family and had amazing Halloween and Christmas Eve celebrations. She insisted we sing Christmas carols for many years, even though no one in the family was blessed with a good singing voice! It didn't matter; it was just for fun! Mom and Dan enjoyed endless Hallmark Christmas movies, at any time of year! The family played bingo at most events, and she would enjoy shopping for bargains to bolster the Bingo winners prizes. She loved the girls weekly Saturday shopping and lunch trips.

She is survived by her brother, Michael Evanoff and wife, Bonnie of Fairview, PA; son, Dennis Sorensen and wife, Wanda Thompson, of Klingerstown, PA; daughter, Leslie Spears, of Richland, PA; daughter, Donna Sorensen, of Lebanon, PA; son, Daniel Sorensen and wife, Priscilla, of Lebanon, PA; son-in-law, Scott Elliot, of New Cumberland, PA; six grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, Melissa, Jessica, Casey, and Tyler; two great-grandchildren: Zoey and Daisy; sister-in-law, Marlene Korn and husband, Richard, of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Paul Petroff, of Erie, PA; sister-in-law, Helen Sorensen of Erie, PA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Debbie Elliot; son-in-law, Richard Spears; brother Floyd Evanoff; sister, Marlene Lewis (McGrath); two sisters-in-law, Monica Sorensen and Nancy Petroff; and brothers-in-law, Dale and Martin "Marty" Sorensen.

Linda wished to be cremated and did not want a service. Cremation will be accomplished by Snyder Bean Funeral Home & Crematory, 890 Isabel Drive, Lebanon, PA 17042. A private ceremony for immediate family will be held at the family home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a Saint Jude Children's Hospital at stjude.org, a charity Linda supported.
