Michael "Mike" David Dechert, 49, passed away on July 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous, nearly three-year battle with cancer. A man of incredible strength, character, and spirit, Mike leaves behind a profound legacy defined by his service, his deep devotion to his family, and the immense light he shared with his community.

A proud Marine Corps veteran, Mike, served four years in the reserves as a jet fueler. His time in the service instilled in him a "stubborn Jarhead" grit that became his greatest armor throughout his illness. Always maintaining a remarkably positive outlook, he faced every challenge head-on and inspired countless people with his testimony and his unwavering resolve.

To know Mike was to know a man who could never sit still. He loved to work, always finding purpose in activity and progress. Professionally, he was a dedicated manager at Dollar General, where his hard work, warmth, and leadership made a lasting impact on the Jonestown community and everyone who walked through the doors. In recent years, he also poured his energy into training as a powerlifter.

Above all, he was a role model for his children, a loving father, and the best friend and soulmate of his wife, Amber, sharing 23 years together and nearly 18 years of marriage in an unbreakable bond. A cherished highlight of their journey together was renewing their vows in August of 2024 through "Wish Upon A Wedding," a deeply special memory held forever in the family's hearts.

Mike cherished every moment with his children and his granddaughters. He always knew how to brighten a room.

Mike lived by a simple, powerful philosophy: "Fix your crown and be someone's light." He spent his life being that light for everyone around him, making a lasting impact on his community. His strength, his laughter, and his advice will be deeply missed, but the example he set will continue to guide all who loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Amber Dechert; his children, Kaleigh Dechert-Sutera, Tate Sutera, Austin Dechert, and Coltyn Dechert; and his beloved granddaughters, Iris Levering and Cynthia Munday. He was preceded in death by his father, George Dechert, and his mother, Patricia Stine.

Mike will be laid to rest on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003. Those who wish to join the funeral procession may meet at the Snyder Bean Funeral Home and Crematory, 890 Isabel Drive, Lebanon, PA 17042 by 8:30 AM.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 1-4 PM at American Legion Post 910 - Lickdale, 75 Fisher Ave, Jonestown, PA 17038. In Mike's honor, please wear black and/or red.
