Thomas Reuben Southall

Thomas Reuben Southall, age 73, of Lancaster passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born on February 6, 1952 in Lebanon, PA to Harry and Dorothy Southall. A devoted outdoorsman from his earliest days, he developed a profound love for hunting—cherishing the quiet of the woods, the thrill of the chase, and the camaraderie of fellow hunters. When he wasn't in nature, he could be found cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys, spending time with his family or giving treats to his loyal canine companion Star and the “boys.” Tom lived a remarkable life leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him. Known for his friendly smile and approachable demeanor, Tom could light up any room and bring people together, whether at home, at camp, or the workplace.

A family man through and through, Tom built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. He was a proud father of two children: Amy Southall (Heather) and Mark Southall (Melanie). One of his greatest joys came from being “Pap” to his four grandchildren: Zackery Southall (Brenna), Cole Southall, Alivia Southall, and Elizabeth Southall.

Tom proudly worked at Alcoa where he dedicated 28 years of service. While performing his daily duties, Tom also served as President of the Aluminum Brick and Glass Workers Local 445. He held this position until a merger with United Steel Workers of America where he was twice elected President of USWA 445A for a span of 7 years.

Tom is survived by his daughter Amy J. Southall (and her wife Heather), son Mark T. Southall (and his wife Melanie), and his four grandchildren: Zackery (Brenna), Cole, Alivia, and Elizabeth. He is also survived by two of his siblings Norma Yacklovich and David Southall (Christine). Tom also leaves behind extended family and many friends whose lives were brightened by his warm spirit and generous heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Dorothy Southall, his brother H. Lee Southall and his sister Linda Biever.

Together, we will remember our “Tom, Dad, Pap”, not with sadness, but with laughter, joy, and an abundance of cherished memories. He may no longer walk among us, but his spirit will continue to inspire us to appreciate God’s beautiful creation every day.

Friends and family will gather to honor Tom’s remarkable journey and celebrate the memories we hold dear. A visitation will be held on July 19, 2025, at 10am located at Snyder Bean Funeral Home 890 Isabel Ave, Lebanon, PA, followed by a memorial service starting promptly at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Keystone Elk Country Alliance, The National Wild Turkey Federation, or Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in Tom’s honor.
